Scribble Picnic–Boat

I admit to having perused many images of boats before doing my take on this one.  Another fine challenge from Michael at Scribble Picnic.  I'm headed over now to see what other boats have been created this week!  Thank you to everyone for your kind comments over these past several weeks.  I'm having fun!

  2. Such a soft and thoughtful piece. Wonder where's he's going. Reminds me of pictures you Dad had sketched and Martha has posted in the past. He passed on his artistic gene. I wish it was a little darker so I could see the details. Have you tried to "enhance" it?

    Good job for sure!

  3. the image is a bit cut off on the right side, I click for the larger view. I wonder how he can paddle and fish at the same time or perhaps he is just holding the paddle? I can't tell. good take on the theme.

    have a lovely day.

  4. I love fishing - it's so peaceful. I must admit that I prefer fishing from the dock myself, but your fisherman is lucky to have such a sturdy boat. Your drawing is very soothing.

  5. So love reading you are having fun here, Jo! Do you fish at all yourself with your lovely serene take on the the boats theme. Works great and we needed a fishing angle here. :) This works really well. Hahaha, jsut saw your title too "eeekstra" --too funny. Thank you for adding this piece to our collection. Keep it up! I love having you on board, so to speak (no pun intended...well, ok, maybe it was.) :) Thanks again.

  6. Great sketch. I don't fish but my kids did some. My son-in-law loves to fish and takes his kids out.
I wonder if he caught anything.
    Blessings,

  7. Lissa, I'm glad you clicked on the image to get a complete view of it. I think I need to get a new blog lay-out, but don't know when that will happen. As far as fishing and paddling at the same time–I was thinking that he was just floating on the water and enjoying the breeze, holding one paddle in the water, but not really going anywhere. I presume the pole is in a holder, but now that there's some movement of the bobber he will need to give it some attention!

Michael, I have been known to fish–with my dad when I was young, and some soon after being married, but now I don't even remember the last time that was.

  8. A lovely loose sketch. Difficult angle to draw, but you have managed it perfectly.

  9. I love the back view of the passenger - fishing is definitely for people with plenty of patience. However, on at the water on a lovely day, under blue skies and with a little picnic packed in the boat, what could be better. Glad you added the wide-brimmed sunhat!!!

  11. What a wonderful sketch. I love it! Don't you enjoy doing "research" and gathering inspiration along the way to create art? These challenges are fabulous and keep me on my toes as well. :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  14. Thanks everyone!
Wanda, I believe you're referring to the pencil drawings of boats that Martha's dad did. She definitely inherited his talent. I don't recall any drawings my own dad did, but he took up woodcarving in his later years and was quite good at that if I do say so! I should share some of those sometime.
