On Hold

It's Vacation Bible School week at our church. Things tend to get put on hold around here during VBS--meals, laundry, etc. It's not quite so bad this year though, since I'm not the director or teaching the classes. I'm just leading the music. We're using the "Quest for Truth" material this year.

Pitiful

Sad to say, the peas from our garden are pitiful this year. They're so bad they don't even get a photo : ) Guess they just knew they couldn't compete with the nice ones from last year. Hmm, I just looked back at July 19, 2006, and see they had a fence to climb. Maybe that made the difference.... but I think more likely it's been the weather.

What to do? What to do?

I lost it. It's nowhere to be found. I'll just have to start over I guess.

Surely it said "Update blog!"

The new one will, and as soon as I hit the "Publish Post" button I'll write out a replacement To Do list for today, put "Update blog!" on it, and then I can cross it off. Yep, that's what I'll do!

#7#8Before the answers, a short story. Last Wednesday I went to town, to donate at the blood drive. Didn't have to wait, answered the questions easily, nice comfortable chair, no problems getting connected, done with the actual donation in just over five minutes, the tech starts to disconnect, and I start to go light-headed. Next thing I know there are about four techs standing around me, getting my feet raised and a cold pack on the back of my neck. They had me stick around quite awhile, and about flooded me with water and Coke before I felt "normal". I've never passed out there before, and I hope it doesn't happen again. They said it could have been the heat, or maybe I hadn't eaten a good lunch, or.... who knows. So how does this tie in? I presume that my face was white as a sheet when I fainted!

The answers are ready. Was it too easy this time?

Blue

I guess I'm feeling kind of blue.

-The dad of one of my very best friends from high school and college died last week of cancer.

-A friend from my church circle group had a heart attack last night.

-One of my good friends, also a circle member, is moving a couple of states away.

Okay, so I need to get off the negative, and see the positive.

-Good memories. Eldon always had a smile for us when the gang converged on their house, and also whenever I'd happen to see him through the years since then. He was always genuinely interested in me, and would want an update on my life and family. Oh, and I'll never forget his half still lights/half frenzied flashing lights Christmas tree!

-Circle friend got medical attention quickly and is going to be okay--they put in stents.

-Friend who is moving will be closer to her family. And I guess the U.S. postal system, phone connections, and the internet are all in good working order.

Hmmm..... still blue, but maybe a lighter shade.
