200 Brownies!

Quiz time--
How many boxes of brownie mix does it take to provide 200 individually wrapped brownies for the local bank for their open house? (Hint: each box says it makes 20 brownies)

Why would we be making 200 brownies?--
We're raising funds for T's trip to California this summer.

And why, you ask, is T going to California?--
It all started with her STAR event for FCCLA, which involved raising money for the American Cancer Society. She did this by starting a seasonal business (Nov. and Dec.) selling "Gifts in a Jar" (mixes for cocoa, spiced tea, and 3 kinds of cookies).

She earned Gold in her STAR event category at the district level, and then Top Gold at the state competition, so now she gets to present her project at the national level in July! She, her advisor, and seven other girls will be going, so there will be multiple fund-raising events (Mother's Day breakfast, concessions at Summerfest, .....) until then.

Anyway, the bank needed the brownies, and FCCLA advisor sent the business our way. (Thanks!)

Quiz answer--
If you said 10 boxes of brownie mix, sorry, that is incorrect. The correct answer is eleven! After all, the first batch in the old, dented 9 x 13 pan came out uneven (before relying only on the sturdy, insulated pan), so some of the brownies were much too thin and/or dry. And surely you knew that we would have to have at least Some extras for sampling!

  1. I knew the answer couldn't be as simple as 10 boxes. "Always make more than enough" is the safe way to go. Mmmm! They smell wonderful!

  4. I love brownies. Reminds me of when I was little and went to a Brownie (Girlscout) meeting. My little brother said "bring me some".
